50 g Steel Cut Oats
150-200 ml Water
1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric
Himalayan Pink Salt (to taste)
1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1 Chopped Green Chili
1/2 Onion (Chopped)
10 ml Olive Oil
Coriander Leaves (as garnish)
Prep Time - 5 Minutes, Cook Time - 20 Minutes
Steps
1. In a pressure cooker, add olive oil.
2. Add chopped onion and green chili. Cook till onions turn golden brown.
3. Add salt, pepper and turmeric to the onion with a dash to water to make sure spices don't get burned. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Add dash of water if required to prevent burning.
4. Add steel cut oats and water and stir to mix in the onion-spice mix.
5. Close the pressure cooker. Cook on high flame for 3 whistles (10-12 minutes).
6. Lower the flame and cook on low flame for 5 more minutes.
7. Let the pressure cooker release the steam before you open.
8. If you prefer a thicker consistency, you can dry out the water by cooking it on high flame without the lid. If you prefer a more liquid consistency, add some more water and cook for 2-3 minutes.
8. Transfer to a bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
